A recent article in the Harvard Business Review stresses the importance of the power of finding “meaning” or “purpose” at work. When successful, employee performance and commitment reach extraordinary levels; the employee life cycle lengthens and the ROI for everyone increases exponentially. The challenge is we’ve been misled with regards to “finding” our purpose. We don’t actually find our purpose. Purpose is something we choose by identifying and living out our core values. These individual values influence our organizational core values and culture. When we align our personal and organizational values, we provide motivation that far surpasses traditional incentives and training.
